Idaho 2008 State EQIP
Special Projects
Idaho has set aside as much as $1 million for use on two special project
sign-up programs using Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) funds.
These projects are titled "Energy Conservation" and "Species of Concern".
Applicants for these special projects may be submitted until November 23, 2007
for consideration in fiscal year 2008. Project applications will
compete on a statewide basis for available funds. In addition to the
project specific forms discussed below, applicants must complete a "NRCS-CPA-1200"
and should review the "NRCS-CPA-1202" Contract and Appendix.

Energy Conservation Information
One million dollars has been set as allocated for changes
to existing sprinkler irrigation systems that can make a full conversion to
gravity pressure and become energy independent other than minor electricity
needs for system movement. Applicants who applied for these types of
conversions will be considered "high priority" and funded using the set aside
funds. If more applications are received than funds allotted, applications
will be randomly chosen for funding.
Sensitive Species of Concern Information
The "Species of Concern" special project is intended for EQIP
contracts that include conservation practices that will provide a direct benefit
to selected wildlife species and their habitat. Applicants must work
directly with staff from either a State or Federal agency involved with
monitoring the species benefited to obtain a letter of support. This includes the Idaho Department of
Fish and Game; the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, or NOAA Fisheries depending
on the species involved. The application information and selected species
list may be downloaded below or is available at your local Natural Resources
Conservation Service office. The "List of Sensitive Species" contains
information on which agency the applicant should work with in completing their
application for these special funds. The contact persons are shown at the
bottom of the list. They may be able to provide a name of someone locally
to assist.
The list of conservation practices eligible for this special project is
limited. The majority of the practices may be cost shared at 75%.
