December 9, 2005 SANDPOINT, ID—Feeling creative? The new Pend Orielle Lake-A-Syst Program needs a catchy slogan and a colorful logo. The winner of the slogan and logo will each receive a $50 cash prize, the honor of seeing their creation on all Lake-A-Syst Program promotional materials, and the opportunity to be part of northern Idaho’s clean water legacy. The Tri-State Water Quality Council’s Lake Pend Oreille committee created the contest to develop an identity for their new program and to help educate area residents on how to protect the lake’s water quality. The committee recently completed the Pend Orielle Lake Nutrient Management Plan and is beginning implementation of the plan with the Lake-A-Syst Program. The program will help homeowners assess their property for pollution sources and make voluntary improvements. In addition, the committee plans to educate residents and lake users on how to modify activities that may have an adverse effect on lake quality. The Pend Orielle Lake-A-Syst Program logo will be used on decals (4-6”), printed materials including letterhead and brochures, and during presentations. Logos should be readable from a distance, adaptable to various mediums and sizes, and printable in both color and black-and-white. The slogan should be catchy, intriguing, timeless, easy to remember and easy to read from a distance. The slogan should attract people’s attention and make them want to learn more about the lake’s water quality and how they can help. Submissions will be accepted for either the logo, slogan or both, and must be received at the address below no later than 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2006. Submitted artwork must be released by the artist for nonprofit purposes. For more information on the Pend Oreille Lake*A*Syst Program contact Gary Parker at the Bonner SWCD office, or go to the Bonner Soil and Water Conservation District’s (Bonner SWCD) website at http://www.icehouse.net/ksswcd.
