Farm Bill Conservation Program Deadline Nov. 22
Boise, Idaho —Farmers and
ranchers interested in applying for 2006 Farm Bill conservation programs will
want to work on their applications now.
Bruce Knight, Chief for the Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS), will be allocating program funds two months ahead of schedule.
This allows states to complete their application and ranking processes before
spring planting.
“This earlier deadline offers Idaho producers the
opportunity to implement their conservation practices prior to crops being
planted,” says Richard Sims, Idaho NRCS state conservationist. “Hopefully this
will help producers take full advantage of the economic and conservation return
of their practices this growing season.”
This deadline includes the following programs, all
administered by NRCS:
- Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
- Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP)
- Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)
Producers can stop by their local NRCS office to pick up
application information and a new EQIP self-assessment form being used this
year.
USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
