Idaho Bulletin 450-6-1
October 5, 2005
SUBJECT:
TCH - Conservation Practice Job Sheets
TO: All Employees,
NRCS, Idaho
Purpose. To
distribute information on new practice job sheets
Expiration Date. September
30, 2006
Several conservation practices offered in FY 06 through the Environmental
Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) will only be available if selected as part of
a “Suite of Practices” that incorporate the use and implementation of management
practices for a conservation systems approach. Those management practices
required for contracts include Irrigation Water Management (449), Prescribed
Grazing (528), and Nutrient Management (590).
Each of these management related practices requires the preparation of a plan
to be developed and signed by the contract participant and the District
Conservationist prior to practice implementation. It is recognized that many
times, due to time constraints and program deadlines, irrigation water
management (IWM), nutrient management, and prescribed grazing plans are not
developed when they should be. In an effort to inform the participant of the
associated requirements of the practice, job sheets have been developed which
will briefly outline them and tell the producer a plan will be developed prior
to practice implementation.
Each applicable job sheet will be reviewed with the producer at the time of
contract development. The participant and assisting conservationist will sign
the job sheet which will then be placed in the long-term contract six-part
folder. All plans associated with these management practices must be developed
prior to practice implementation. Even though these job sheets are being
transmitted for field office use, it is strongly encouraged that NRCS staffs
develop IWM, nutrient management, and prescribed grazing plans during the
contract development and delivery phase.
Questions related on the usage of the conservation practice job sheets should be
directed to Mark Weatherstone, Assistant State Conservationist (Technical
Services) at (208) 378-5720.
