Idaho encourages participation in professional organizations as an excellent opportunity for technology transfer, training opportunities, information exchange, as well as networking.

The Idaho Chapter SWCS is hosting a workshop and tour, July 28-29, in Twin Falls. The workshop will focus on recent research, monitoring, and management issues pertaining to water quantity and quality in the Magic Valley. The field tour will provide the opportunity to see on-the-ground implementation dealing with animal waste management, irrigation conversions and scheduling, wetland and sediment ponds, and water reuse projects.

This workshop and tour offers an excellent opportunity for Idaho employees to get a first hand look at water quality and quantity issues in the Magic Valley. The Conservation Security Program (CSP) will be discussed as part of the workshop agenda.

A total of 10.5 Certified Crop Advisor continuing credits can be obtained by attending both the workshop and field tour. For the workshop, 0.5 credits for Nutrient Management and 4 credits for Soil and Water. For the field tour, 2.5 credits for Nutrient Management, 2 credits for Soil and Water, and 1.5 credits for Crop Management.

There is no cost for the workshop. Cost of the field tour is $8.00 (includes lunch and transportation). More information on the workshop and tour and the registration form can be found at http://www.plrcd.org/SWCS. Registration deadline is July 20, 2005.
