SUBJECT:  EOP - Nominations for the 2006 Civil Rights Awards and Workforce Diversity Awards

TO:  All Employees, NRCS, Idaho

Purpose.  To request 2006 Civil Rights and Workforce Diversity Award nominations

Expiration Date.  September 30, 2007

Action required by: October 20, 2006

The National Civil Rights Committee (NCRC) is accepting nominations for the National Civil Rights Awards and the NRCS Workforce Diversity Awards for fiscal year 2006. The deadline to submit state nominations is November 1, 2006. Refer to National Bulletin 230-6-1 on the electronic directives site for additional information.

To ensure we meet the deadline to submit Idaho nominations to the NCRC, we are requesting Civil Rights award nominations be submitted to the Human Resources Office in Boise no later than October 20, 2006. This is a change from the due date of October 27, 2006 stated in Idaho Bulletin 360-6-8.

There are two Civil Rights Award categories: Civil Rights Program Delivery and Contributions to Workforce Diversity. These annual awards recognize NRCS employees who demonstrate excellence in the advancement of civil rights in program delivery and work force diversity. These awards may be for an individual and/or group/team. Recipients of these awards become eligible to compete for nationa1 Civil Rights awards.

All employees, including supervisors and managers, are encouraged to submit nominations for these awards.

Refer to the attached Civil Rights Awards nomination criteria.

  • Prepare nomination on the AD-287-2, Recommendation & Approval of Awards form.

  • Prepare a narrative justification (not to exceed one single spaced page) to support the nomination. Refer to attached civil rights award nomination criteria. Be sure to identify the type of award on the form: Civil Rights Program Delivery or Contributions to Workforce Diversity.

  • Forward the Civil Rights Award nominations to the Human Resources Officer (HRO) by October 20, 2006. The HRO will forward the nominations to the Idaho Civil Rights Committee. The Idaho Civil Rights Committee will review the nominations and make recommendations to the State Conservationist.
