SUBJECT:
EOP - Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
TO: All
Employees, NRCS, Idaho
Purpose. To provide information
on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Expiration Date.
September 30, 2006
“Shaping the Future”
is the 2006 theme for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is
designed to expand opportunities for girls and boys, expose them to what adults
in their lives do during the work day, show them the value of their education,
and give them an opportunity to share how they envision their future.
Idaho NRCS and the Federal
Women’s Program encourage you and any children between the ages of 8 and 15 to
participate in this activity for a day during the week of April 24th.
As a part of the day’s activities, appointments could be set up with several of
your coworkers to talk about your jobs and careers. You and your colleagues can
provide hands-on-training to the children on different career choices available
with NRCS.
If you choose to participate in
this activity, make sure you contact the child’s school and obtain an excused
absence. Most schools recognize the benefits of this program and will let your
child accompany you to work. To alleviate liability problems, all participants
need to have the attached release form signed by their parent/guardian. If you
plan to go to the field, you must have a release form signed by the landowner(s)
you visit. Personal vehicles must be used on these field visits. Please send
permission slips to Christa Johnson, Federal Women’s Program Manager, prior
to the day of the activity (faxed copies are acceptable).
We would like each child to complete an evaluation form or
write a summary of their experience and activities. Please send evaluations to
Christa Johnson at 1551 Baldy Ave, Ste 2 Pocatello, ID 83201. Pictures are also
encouraged. Participating children will receive a certificate and small token
of recognition for the day.
If you have any questions, please call Christa at (208) 237-4628 ext 101.
