Idaho Bulletin 250-8-3
June 23, 2008
SUBJECT: FNM - Transition
to GovTrip
TO: All Employees, NRCS, Idaho
Purpose. To inform employees of
important dates in the transition from FedTraveler to GovTrip
Expiration Date.
September 30, 2008
Background: NRCS will go “live” in the new GovTrip travel system
on July 7, 2008. GovTrip will replace our current way of processing travel
vouchers, issuing travel authorizations and booking transportation and lodging
through FedTraveler. As we transition into GovTrip, there will be a couple
weeks of overlapping travel systems.
Beginning on July 7, 2008, NRCS personnel must create their
trip by trip authorizations, book their travel arrangements, and create their
travel vouchers through GovTrip. However, all travel reservations booked
through FedTraveler prior to July 7, 2008, will continue to be supported through
the current FedTraveler travel agents if changes need to be made.
There are a few transitional dates and times that apply to this
implementation of GovTrip.
- Friday, June 27, 2008 -
Financial Management (FNM) staff at the State Office will be blocked from
being able to create new travel authorizations in the NFC Travel System (TRVL).
Any requests for special travel authorizations for travel occurring between
June 27 and July 7, 2008, should be made to FNM prior to June 26. Employees
who made travel reservations using FedTraveler, will be able to submit
their travel voucher through the old (current) travel system to ensure
reimbursement and closeout as long as they had a valid travel
authorization. If employees are traveling using the blank travel
authorization issued on October 1, 2007, a special authorization is not
needed. If employees booked travel arrangements through FedTraveler without
a valid authorization and one does not get created prior to June 27, the
traveler will need to create a post trip authorization and voucher in the
GovTrip system.
- June 27 thru July 6, 2008 -
For travel required to be booked between June 27 and July 6, 2008, travelers
can use the FedTraveler online reservation system up to 6:00 p.m. EDT on
July 3, 2008. Travel authorizations and vouchers will be required to be
prepared in GovTrip for trips that commenced after July 6. Travel that
occurs during the period of time from June 27 through July 6 should still be
able to be processed using our current travel voucher system.
Questions regarding information provided in this bulletin should be directed to
Mary Goode, Budget Officer at 208-378-5713.
